Dear Mira Mesa Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that our head football coach, Chris Thompson has passed away. Chris was beginning his 4th season as our head coach and was involved with coaching student athletes for over 35 years.

We understand how difficult this news could be for our students and school community. Therefore, our school will ensure counseling services are available for students and staff on site beginning on Tuesday. Our goal is to support our students in the best way possible as they process any feelings and emotions.

I will continue to share information about services for Coach Thompson as these details become available. In the meantime, please continue to care for one another and let us know if we can be of any assistance.

We appreciate in advance all the prayers and positive thoughts you will have for the Thompson family. He was an amazing leader, an inspirational football coach, and an even better man who truly believed in his players and who made an irreplaceable difference in the lives of our student athletes and their young minds.

As Chris would say, Mira Mesa High School is an incredible community filled with students and staff who support each other when times are tough. We want our school community and students to know we are here and available for anything that may be needed, as we honor Chris Thompson, his life and legacy.

We are Mira Mesa High School. One Family. One Purpose.

If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jeff Sabins
